How to Apply Press-On Nails: A Step-by-Step Guide

A salon-perfect manicure at home takes about ten minutes once you know the order of operations. Here is exactly how we apply every Knightly Nails set.

1. Start with clean, dry nails. Remove any old polish and wash your hands — oil and moisture are the enemy of good adhesion.

2. Push back your cuticles gently with the included cuticle stick. This lets the press-on sit flush and look natural.

3. Buff lightly. A few gentle passes with a nail buffer removes surface shine and gives the adhesive something to grip. Do not over-file.

4. Wipe each nail with the alcohol prep pad and let them dry completely.

5. Lay out your sizes first. Match each tip to your nail before opening the glue — the tip should cover edge to edge without touching skin. Between sizes? Choose the larger one and file the sides.

6. Apply adhesive tabs for 3–5 days of wear, or a thin layer of nail glue for up to 2–3 weeks. With glue, less is more.

7. Press each nail on at a 45-degree angle from cuticle to tip, then hold firmly for 20–30 seconds. No air bubbles.

8. Avoid water, lotion and oils for the first hour while the bond cures.
